New Online Engineering Education Program Accreditation and Reporting System Emerges From Engineers Canada and ARMATURE Partnership

OTTAWA, ON, October 16, 2018 – Engineers Canada is pleased to announce its partnership with ARMATURE in the delivery of a new data management system to support engineering education program accreditation and the annual Enrollment and Degrees Awarded Survey.

The delivery of this system is a key element of the Accreditation Improvement Program, a coordinated effort to improve stakeholder consultation, communication, training, improvement processes, and the technical platforms involved with reporting for accreditation and the Enrollment and Degrees Awarded Survey. The Engineers Canada Board has identified this work as a strategic priority.

“Embarking on this partnership marks a major milestone for us,” says Gerard MacDonald, CEO of Engineers Canada. “Updating the data management system that we use will ensure that the technical side of accreditation and the Enrolment and Degrees Awarded Survey continue to meet the needs of stakeholders in engineering education long term.”

For over 17 years, ARMATURE has helped standards-developing organizations, institutional and programmatic accreditors, and conformity-assessment bodies enhance their accreditation processes and procedures through the delivery of configurable and easy-to-use software solutions. In addition to it’s work on the engineering education program accreditation with  Engineers Canada, they support organizations such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the American Association of Tissue Banks.

“We are honored to support Engineers Canada in their Accreditation Improvement Program,” says David McTaggart, CEO of ARMATURE. “Our software, which is built on a next-generation technology platform, will enhance the way in which critical data is entered, collected, monitored, and managed by the Engineers Canada team and their key stakeholders.”

“The rollout of this data management system, alongside improvements to training and stakeholder communication, will provide a streamlined data entry process while reducing the technological risks involved with the system currently in use,” says Stephanie Price, Executive Vice President, Regulatory Affairs for Engineers Canada.

Engineers Canada and ARMATURE have begun the process of phasing the setup of the system, configuration, and testing steps. Timelines for implementation will soon be confirmed as Engineers Canada moves forward in close consultation with stakeholders.

“We will be reaching out to HEIs to understand their specific needs with regard to training and deployment,” says Price. “We have assumptions about how cycles operate, but we need to validate these through conversations with the participants of the process.

Adds Price, “We want to emphasize that institutions involved will be thoroughly prepared for each stage of the rollout.”
